Job Title: Bench Fitter

Report to: Director of Installations

Who we are
Terry Group Ltd are a British engineering company with over 50 years’ experience in the design,
manufacture and installation of home and platform lift solutions. Currently converting our suite of in
house systems to Microsoft (MS) Dynamics 365:Business central & CRM.

Job Purpose Summary

Product Development is a critical part of the companies strategy. This role is responsible for
performing general R&D duties using hand and machine tools to support Design Engineers concepts
and to continually improve our products.

Essential Skills Base

  • Good experience of general workshop practices
  • Experience working with a variety of materials
  • Experience in cutting, drilling, forming and welding
  • A basic understanding of electrics
  • Bench fitting and assembly
  • Turning and milling skills
  • Ability to work with others in order to develop aims of the business
  • Is flexible and able to adapt to working on different unusual projects
  • Understanding of Health & Safety procedures relevant to engineering activities.

Core responsibilities of the role:

  • Creating and constructing components to the finest of quality, to match the spec
    requirements of the product
  • Conduct quality and control checks, plus accountability for work
  • Work as part of a team within the workshop to ensure the product is manufactured correctly
    to spec
  • To be decisive and proactive within work decisions
  • Rely upon one’s initiative to complete solo tasks
  • To maintain safety standards within the workshop
  • Maintenance of the working area, ensuring guidelines are met
  • Meeting R&D deadlines by following defined plans and goals
  • Assist in production to suit the demands of the business
